OLD FASHIONED RAISIN APPLESAUCE
CAKE
 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar

2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. each cloves, nutmeg & salt
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 lb. raisins (less can be used; a 12 oz. or 15 oz. box is fine)
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in a little hot water

Add alternately flour and applesauce to creamed mixture. Mix well after each addition; add baking soda; mix.

Stir in raisins. Pour in 8 inch greased square pan. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees) for 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.

Serve warm with hard sauce or sprinkle confectioners' sugar on top.
