FRIED PIE CRUST 
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk

Combine flour, soda and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Combine egg and buttermilk; add to flour mixture. Knead until smooth.

YIELDS: Pastry for about 1 1/4 dozen 5 inch pies.
