5 Hour Buns

My Mom made these for years and everyone knew when they were coming out of the oven! They are heavenly! She called them Every Hour buns. I temporarily lost the recipe, but looked online afterwards and was amazed to find this. Seems like a lot of work but nothing is better than the smell of these buns in the morning! I wish I could give it 10 stars!

This is the same recipe my Mom used for 50 years! She used a water and sugar mixture and brushed it on top when they came hot out of the oven. It adds a slightly crispy crust and enhances the flavor.

I start them in the morning instead rather than getting up early in the morning to bake them. Also, cover with a white kitchen towel and a bath towel so they don't raise too much. Uncover and may need to let raise another half hour before baking.
