FAVORKA (POLISH) 
5 egg yolks
3 tbsp. sugar
5 tbsp. sour cream
1/4 lemon
1 tbsp. almond or vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Stir 5 egg yolks and 3 tablespoons sugar until smooth. Add 5 tablespoons sour cream, the grated rind of 1/4 lemon, 1 tablespoon almond or vanilla extract.

Sift 2-1/2 cups flour. Add 1/4 tsp. salt, sift again and add to first mixture.

Knead lightly on floured board until smooth and firm enough to roll. Chill, then roll quite thin and cut into 1-inch strips.

Cut a gash through center of each strip, pull one end through opening and fry in deep fat (380°F.) for about 1 minute.

Drain on paper towels.

Dust with confectioners' sugar while still warm.
