LEBKUCHEN (German Christmas Bars) | |
1 lb. brown sugar 4 eggs 1/4 lb. melted butter 2 c. flour (all-purpose) 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. allspice 3 tsp. baking powder 1 c. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) Beat eggs until light and frothy. Add sugar and beat 10-15 minutes. Add melted butter and beat again for 10 minutes. Meanwhile mix dry ingredients. Add to egg mixture. Add nuts. Spread mixture into greased and floured BIG cookie sheet, the thinner the mixture the better. Bake on 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Cut while still warm. Frost with white cake frosting (1 tub) and sprinkle with red and green sugar sprinkles. |
