NUT BREAD 
1 c. prunes, cut sm.
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. boiling water
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
2 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts (not too thin)

Combine prunes, soda, and boiling water and let stand a few hours. Add ingredients as listed above. Bake in 2 loaf pans at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Nut Bread is done when a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Don't over bake.
