APPLESAUCE - BARBECUED SPARERIBS
1 med. onion, thinly sliced & separated into rings
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. applesauce
1/2 c. catsup
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. Worcestershire

2 1/2 lb. fresh pork spareribs, cut into 2 or 3 rib portions

Makes 3 to 4 servings.

Mix onion and butter in a small bowl. Microwave at HIGH until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients, except spareribs. Microwave on HIGH until hot and bubbly, 4 to 6 minutes. Stir 2 to 3 times during cooking. Set sauce aside.

Arrange spareribs in rectangular baking dish, 12 x 8 inch, or 10 inch square. Spread with 3/4 cup of the sauce. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Microwave at HIGH 5 minutes. Reduce power to MEDIUM. Microwave 20 minutes. Rearrange and turn spareribs over.

Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) until fork-tender, 20 to 25 minutes. If using other than Sharp Carousel, rotate baking dish every 10 minutes during cooking. Drain. Spread remaining barbecue sauce over spareribs. Microwave uncovered at MEDIUM until barbecue sauce is hot and spareribs are glazed, 4 to 6 minutes.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
