2 c. butter 1-1/4 lb. brown sugar 6 eggs 6 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. cinnamon 3 (8 oz.) pkgs. dates, chopped 1/2 lb. English walnuts, chopped 1 tsp. lemon juice Cream butter, add sugar gradually. Add eggs one at a time. Mix well after each addition. Sift 5 cups flour baking powder and cinnamon. Add to mixture. Mix dates with 1 cup of flour. Add to mixture. Add nuts, vanilla and lemon juice. Bake in tube pan lined with wax paper for 2-1/2 to 3 hours at 275 degrees. Cook cake completely. Store in container. Will keep for a long time. |
