APPLE CINNAMON PUFFS | |
4 to 5 med. apples 3/4 to 1 c. sugar Same amount water 1 1/2 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shortening 3/4 c. milk 2 tbsp. butter 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Peel and slice apples (thin). Lay in 9 x 9 inch baking dish. Mix sugar and water and heat until sugar is dissolved. Cool slightly; pour over sliced apples. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening and blend until it resembles cornmeal. Add milk to make a soft dough. Drop 10 to 12 spoonfuls of dough over apple slices. Melt the butter; add sugar and cinnamon. Dent center of each biscuit dough spoonfuls and place teaspoon of cinnamon mixture on each. Bake in HOT 450 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. |
