WORLD WAR II ECONOMY CAKE 
1 lb. raisins
2 c. hot water
1/2 lb. butter
2 c. sugar
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 c. cold water

Stew raisins in hot water for 5 minutes. Add butter and sugar until melted. Add cold water. Sift dry ingredients and add liquid to all. Grease and flour two loaf pans. Bake 35-40 minutes in 350 degree oven.
