BROWN SUGAR POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter
5 eggs
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
3 1/2 c. plain flour
1 lb. and 1 c. light brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk

Preheat oven 325 degrees. Let eggs and butter set until they're at room temperature.

Cream together butter and Crisco. Add 5 eggs one at a time, creaming after each. Add brown sugar. Sift together flour and baking powder. Add flour mixture alternately with milk to sugar mixture. Bake at 325 in greased and floured tube pan, 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.

GLAZE:

1/3 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter over medium heat in saucepan, blend in sugar. Add milk and bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Turn off heat; cool. Add vanilla and beat until of spreading consistency.
