LENTIL SOUP (SHAWRABAT ADDAS) | |
2 c. red split lentils (addas majroush) 4 lg. onions, chopped Salt, allspice and cumin according to taste 1/2 c. olive oil 2 qt. water 1/2 c. lemon juice Cook and stir the onions in oil in a saucepan over medium heat until onions are tender. Add lentils, water and spices. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer until tender. Just before serving, add lemon juice. On the side have bite-size pieces of toasted Arabic bread. |
