HOT TAMALE PIE 
1 c. plain cornmeal
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 c. boiling water
1 c. cold water
1 tbsp. shortening
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. olives, chopped (optional)
1 lb. can tomatoes
1 tbsp. chili powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. sharp cheese, grated

For mush: Combine cornmeal, salt, and chili powder. Add 1 cup cold water, then add 2 cups boiling water. Cook until thick. Stir. Cook over low heat 5 minutes, covered. Stir.

For Topping: Brown beef; add onion and cook until tender. Add flour, olive, tomatoes, chili powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well. Spread mush in 3 quarts pan and pour topping over it. Add grated cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.
