BEATEN ROLLS/CLOVER LEAF ROLLS 
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. shortening
2 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 1/4 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in water. Add milk which has been scalded and cooled to lukewarm. Add softened shortening, sugar, salt, beaten egg and flour.

Beat mixture thoroughly until smooth; cover and let stand about 1 hour. Stir down and roll 3 small balls into each greased muffin cup. Let rest 30 minutes.

Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. butter on hot rolls. Makes 12 rolls. Recipe can be doubled.
