IDIOT ROLLS | |
Where did they get their name? Any idiot can make them. Mix together in large bowl: 2 eggs, beaten 1 c. water 3/4 c. sugar In smaller bowl mix until melted: 1 stick butter 1 c. boiling water 3/4 c. shortening Let cool. Melt 2 cakes of yeast (1 compressed yeast = 2 tsp. dry yeast) in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Mix all other ingredients together in large bowl and add 7 cups of self rising flour. Mix well. Divide into two bowls, cover, place in refrigerator. (It will seem a little sticky, don't worry.) When ready to bake, turn dough onto floured board, knead in a little flour for easier handling. Cut with biscuit cutter. Dip into melted butter, fold over. Let rise at least 1 hour before baking. Bake at 450 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes. These can be half baked and frozen for later user. Also this dough can be rolled out, buttered well, shake with cinnamon and sugar, raisins and roll up, cut into cinnamon rolls; let rise. When baked, top with favorite icing. (Or half bake, freeze and use as needed. Hold icing until baked.) |
