MY DAUGHTER - IN - LAWS ITALIAN
SPAGHETTI SAUCE
 
1/2 c. sliced onion
2 tbsp. bacon fat
1 lb. chunk-round ground
1 minced peeled garlic clove
1 minced seeded green pepper
1 (#2) 1/2 can tomatoes (3 1/2 c.)
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce (2 c.)
1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms and liquid
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. dried sage
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. dried rosemary
1 bay leaf
1 c. water

Saute onions, tender. Add beef; cook until it loses redness. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer uncovered 1 1/2 hours. Freezes very well.
