BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. buttermilk
3 c. graham or whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Mix first 2 ingredients and let stand until sugar is dissolved. Fill 2 (1 pound) coffee cans not more than 2/3 full and bake in pre-heated oven 1 hour at 375 degrees.
