SCOTCH SHORTBREAD 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar or light brown sugar
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually. Beat well. Add dry ingredients. Mix well. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Cut in squares. Prick with fork. Bake at 350 degrees until delicately brown, about 20-25 minutes. Makes 24 shortbreads.
