COTTAGE LASAGNA | |
1/2 lb. Italian sausage (or Polish) 1/2 lb. ground beef 1 env. spaghetti sauce mix 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce (or 1 (15 oz.) can) 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 1 1/2 c. water 2 tbsp. Parmesan cheese 1/2 lb. dumpling noodles 1 lb. cottage cheese 2 tbsp. chopped parsley 1 (9 oz.) pkg. Mozzarella cheese Brown meats. Stir in spaghetti sauce mix, tomato paste, water, and Parmesan cheese. Cook noodles. Spoon enough sauce in 7 x 11 x 1/2 inch baking dish to cover bottom. Layer half the noodles, half the cottage cheese, and half the parsley on the sauce. Cover with sauce and repeat layers. Cut Mozzarella into wide strips. Arrange in cross bar design on top. (I sometimes use shredded Mozzarella and sprinkle all over the top.) Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until cheese melts and sauce is bubbling. Serves 8. |
