KOOKIE BRITTLE 
1 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. sugar
2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease 1 5 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch jelly roll pan.

In large mixer bowl with electric mixer at medium speed, cream butter. Add salt and vanilla. Beat in sugar until light and fluffy, scraping bowl occasionally. Add flour and continue mixing until well combined. Stir in chocolate and pecans. Pat dough with hands into prepared pan. Bake 25 minutes or until lightly brown at edges. Cool in pan on wire rack. When cool, break with hands into pieces. Makes about 5 dozen. About 65 calories per one inch piece.
