LENTIL SOUP 
1 lb. chopped bacon or ham
1 lg. onion, diced
1 pkg. lentils
2 lg. carrots, diced
1 lg. can tomatoes
1 can beef consomme
1/4 c. vinegar
Dash of red pepper

Put carrots in a large kettle, cover with water and begin cooking. Brown bacon, when 3/4 done add onion and brown. Remove drained bacon and onion, add to carrots. Put 1 package lentils in kettle and add water until covered. Simmer until tender. Add tomatoes, consomme, vinegar, and red pepper.
