GLADYS' FUDGE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
6 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
Salt
3/4 tsp. baking powder
Dissolve 3/4 tsp. baking soda in 1/3 c. sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla

FROSTING:

2 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. cream
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
Powdered sugar

Dissolve shortening and cocoa in saucepan. Add sugar and water and cook until sugar dissolves. Cool and add 2 eggs. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add to cocoa mixture. Stir in soda dissolved in sour milk. Add vanilla.

Pour into 3 (8 inch) cake pans or 9 x 13. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Don't overcook!

FROSTING:

Bring butter, cream, brown sugar and cocoa to a boil. Boil 1 minute. Add powdered sugar until spreading consistency. Thin with cream if it begins to set up too soon.
