PEGGY'S BUTTERMILK BISCUITS | |
2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar (helps biscuits brown) 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. baking powder 5 tbsp. shortening 1 1/4 c. buttermilk Mix all dry ingredients, cut in shortening (small pea size). Add buttermilk, blend, turn out on well floured board, pat out to about 1/2" thick, cut with biscuit cutter or small empty tomato sauce can. Bake in well greased pan at 425 degrees until golden brown. |
