CARAMEL BUTTERMILK ICING 
1/2 lb. butter
4 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. light corn syrup
Pinch of salt

Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly. Cook to soft ball stage. Remove from heat. Beat until thick. Spread on cake.
