APPLE SCOTCH NUT BARS 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. Imperial granulated sugar
1 egg
1 c. unsweetened applesauce
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins; optional
1 c. chopped pecans

Cream together butter and sugar; add the egg and applesauce and beat well. Add combined dry ingredients; stir in the raisins and nuts. Turn into greased 8 inch square baking pan and in preheated 350 degree oven about 40 minutes or until bars are done. When cool, frost with icing. Yields 16-20 bars.

BUTTERSCOTCH ICING:

Boil 3 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoon cream or orange juice and 3 tablespoons Imperial brown sugar together. Add enough Imperial 10x powdered sugar to make proper consistency for spreading, approximately 2 cups.
