PARMESAN GARLIC BREAD | |
2 pkgs. dry yeast 1 tbsp. sugar 3/4 c. lukewarm water 1 stick butter 2 1/2 c. lukewarm milk 1 well beaten egg 5 c. unbleached flour 1 tbsp. salt 3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 pkg. garlic salad dressing mix 1 egg white 1 tbsp. cold water Dissolve yeast and sugar in lukewarm water. Let set 10 minutes. In the meantime; melt 1 stick butter in lukewarm milk and add the well beaten egg. Sift together flour, salt, cheese and salad dressing mix. Add yeast mixture, butter, milk and egg mixture. Knead in bowl about 2 minutes. Place in well buttered large bowl, cover with towel and let rise until double, about 2 hours. Remove from bowl and knead about 2 minutes, using a very small amount of flour for kneading. Grease well 4 (6" x 3 1/2") loaf pans and bake in preheated 325 degree oven for 30 minutes. With pastry brush, brush well with egg white and water which have been mixed together. Return to oven and bake 20 minutes. |
