BLOND BROWNIES 
1 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/3 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Combine first five ingredients and set aside. Melt butter in saucepan, add brown sugar, mix well. Cool slightly. Add beaten egg and vanilla, blend well. Add flour mixture gradually, beating only until mixed.

Spread evenly in a greased 9x9-inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate bits on top.

Bake at 350°F until a toothpick inserted in center comes out nearly clean (there will be some crumbs sticking to the toothpick but they will be nearly dry) or about 20 to 25 minutes. Do not overbake or the brownies will be dry.

Cool in pan. Cut into bars.
