ALBINA OTT'S NUT BREAD | |
Thanks Mom! We miss you! Charles & Ken. 3 cups all-purpose flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 cup sugar 1 1/4 cups whole milk 1 beaten egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts 3/4 cup raisins Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Stir in sugar. Add milk, egg and vanilla; mix well (KitchenAid mixer works well especially when you make 2 loaves). Stir in chopped nuts and raisins. Pour in to well buttered loaf pan (bottom buttered only). Let stand for 20 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F. Bake at 350°F for about 1 hour (test with a toothpick for a dry center). Let cool. Slice and serve with butter or cream cheese in the morning. Variations: Try adding Craisins or dried cherries for a colorful Holiday fare! Submitted by: Charles Ott |
