2 c. water

Boil together for 3 minutes, set aside to cool.

2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
6 tbsp. butter

Mix dry ingredients and add vanilla. Cut in shortening, add 1 beaten egg and 1 cup milk. Mix to soft dough. Roll into a rectangle 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Mix 3/4 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon - sprinkle over dough, then spread with 3 or 4 cups of chopped apples.
