ICE BOX ST. NICK COOKIES 
3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nutmeats

Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten egg. Then add dry ingredients. Shape into a roll, wrap in waxed paper and chill overnight. Slice and bake at 350 degrees about 10 minutes. This is a crisp cookie.
