2 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. shortening
1 c. "Herman" starter
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
Chopped nuts are optional

Combine all ingredients in usual manner until well blended. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Note: You may frost with chocolate icing.
