1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour cream
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
5 1/2 c. plain flour

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine remaining ingredients and add a little at a time to shortening mixture. Form into balls and chill. Bake at 350 degrees. Ice when cool.

GLAZE:

2 c. confectionery sugar
2 tsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix and sprinkle with colored sugar.
