COLD WATER SWEET PICKLES 
Fill a quart jar with whole cucumbers.

Add: 1 tbsp. un-iodized salt 1/2 tsp. alum 1 tbsp. mixed spices

Fill jar with cold water; seal. After 3 weeks, when you want pickles, drain and wash.

Slice or leave whole. Make slits in pickles if left whole. Add 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons water, or a little more. Stir until sugar dissolves. Pour over pickles; let stand awhile in refrigerator before eating.
