BREAD PUDDING | |
2 c. milk 1/2 c. sugar 1/8 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. butter 2 egg yolks 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. bread crumbs Scald milk; add sugar, salt and butter. Pour mixture over egg yolks and beat well. Add vanilla and bread crumbs. Place ingredients in buttered baking dish. Set in pan of hot water. Bake in moderately slow (350 degree) oven for 45 minutes or until firm. Cool slightly and serve with Lemon Sauce. LEMON SAUCE: 1 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. cornstarch 1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice 1/2 c. sugar 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. salt Combine sugar and cornstarch. Add water slowly, stirring sauce constantly. Cook over low heat until thickened about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients. |
