CROATIAN VANILLA COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 whole egg
1 egg white, stiffly beaten
3 c. flour
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. ground nuts
Juice of half a lemon
Confectioners 'sugar

Cream the butter until it is smooth and fluffy. Add the whole egg and the egg yolk and continue beating until the mixture becomes very creamy. Gradually add the flour, vanilla, nuts and lemon juice. Knead the dough until soft. Roll it out to about one quarter inch thickness. Cut into little circles, crescents, squares or diamonds with a cookie cutter. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven, and while still hot, dip in beaten egg white and roll in sugar.
