MELT IN THE MOUTH COOKIES | |
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 1 cup light brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 egg 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Preheat oven to 400°F. Cream butter. Add sugar, vanilla and egg. Beat till light. Add flour mixture to creamed butter and mix thoroughly. Stir in nuts. Drop by level teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes. remove and let stand for 1 minute. Press down firmly with spatula and remove from cookie sheet. Variation: If using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
