DATE NUT CAKE 
2 lb. dates
1 qt. pecans
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour (cake flour)
1 tsp. baking powder
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

Cut dates and nuts in small pieces. Sift flour and baking powder together, then sift over dates and nuts. Pull dates apart and get flour on every piece. Beat eggs in another bowl, add sugar, vanilla and salt. Beat well and pour over nuts and dates; mix well. Pack in well greased tube pan. Bake slow in moderate oven 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. You will have to mix this by hand.
