BIG POT SOUP 
2 c. each cubed potatoes, carrots, onions
1 c. each celery and shredded cabbage
4 c. canned tomatoes
1 lb. or more hamburger or stew beef, browned and drained
46 oz. can V-8 Juice
1 1/2 qt. water
3-4 tsp. salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf, crushed
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/2 tsp. basil

Simmer all ingredients for 1 hour or until meat and vegetables are tender.
