FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Fresh Corn on the Cob (Microwave)
 #45698
 TalkingEarth (Washington) says:
Nuking is the best way to do the fresh corn on cob, clip the tassles on top and then at the other end before you put it in circumscribe with a knife as deep as you can cut. When you take it out it will make it much easier to remove the husk with a single movement even when it is hot. Can't believe it took me 62 years to think this one up. /try it ull like it you'll say aw shucks, why didn't I think of that!

 Alex in Toronto (Ontario) says:
I've been doing this for a few years after seeing the tip in a microwave recipe encyclopedia I purchased. I find that I need to nuke one ear for 4 minutes if at ambient temp or 4.5 minutes if not (fridge). This is for a 1100 watt microwave. I can only guess that at 2 minutes the corn is still pretty raw.

This recipe was great! I just tried it tonight and was amazed in the actual taste! I did however adjust the time to 3 mins for a larger ear of corn. Thanks for the recipe!

 Mary (Ohio) says:
Tried this and LOVED it! I used to always steam it in the husks. But this is far easier. I did soak them for an hour or so prior to microwaving - got paranoid they'd get dried out or start burning. WONDERFUL!

 Kim (Indiana) says:
When I cook them on the grill, I never soak them in water. That is just a matter of choice.

 Renée (Canada) says:
Before using the cooking directions, I pre-soak my corn husks for a couple of minutes, then drain them before putting them in the microwave. I also adjust the time for different sizes of husks. Yummy

NH Corn Husker (New Hampshire) says:
I cut off the tassel with a scissors close to the corn and remove the rough husks, leaving the tender green. I wash those in water and wrap in plastic... 2-3 minutes cooks perfectly and you can run under cold water to remove the rest of the silk and the corn will still be hot to eat!

 Joe (Ohio) says:
This worked great on fresh corn I got from the farmers market. I had great results with 4 ears at a time for 8 minutes and 3 ears at 6 minutes. I'll never cook them in boiling water again!

always do my corn this way... found in other recipe - just soak corn cobs in water for a while first... gives more moister to the corn when it is done
