"HEIDI'S ONLY CASSEROLE" | |
(Only one because her husband's arch enemy is casseroles, but he does ask for this one!) 3 lbs. ground round, browned slightly 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce, stir in cooked meat 1 (12 oz.) pkg. egg noodles, cooked & drained 2 tbsp. butter, stir into hot noodles Thoroughly mix together next 5 ingredients: 1 pt. or 2 c. cottage cheese 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1 c. sour cream 1 1/2 tsp. dried chives 1/3 c. onion, grated 2 c. Mozzarella cheese, grated Butter deep 9 x 13 inch pan. Add a layer of noodles, layer of meat, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired. Put another layer of noodles, layer of cheese. Repeat. End with meat sauce. Cover with Mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly. (I cover with foil so cheese doesn't get too brown or "crusty" - use toothpicks to keep foil from "eating" the cheese). Cooking time is usually 1 hour. Serves 8. Cook, eat, and most of all "enjoy"!! |
