DROP FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. brown sugar packed
1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. sifted flour

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs together. Add warm water and mix well. Sift dry ingredients together and add, mixing well. Add vanilla.

Drop mixture on cookie sheet, a good sized teaspoon for each cookie. Make an indentation in top. Drop teaspoon of filling in indentation. Put a little of dough on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

FILLING:

1 c. raisins or dates
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Mix all together and boil until thick.
