1/2 c. soft butter
1/4 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sifted flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 qt. ice cream

Mix butter, sugar, and vanilla thoroughly. Sift flour and salt together. Add to butter mixture and blend. Mix in nuts. Chill 30 to 45 minutes. Heat oven to 400 degrees (moderate hot). Pat dough evenly into ungreased 9 inch pie pan. Flute edge. Prick. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Just before serving, fill with ice cream and top as desired.
