SWEDISH TOSCA CAKE | |
3/4 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 2 eggs 1/4 c. bread or dry cereal or cracker crumbs 3/4 c. sugar 1/4 c. butter 1/4 tsp. almond extract 1/4 c. cream ALMOND TOPPING: 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 c. butter 1 tbsp. flour 1 tbsp. slivered almonds Sift together dry ingredients; set aside. Butter sides and bottom of 9"x9" pan or 8"x8" pan. Coat pan with crumbs. Beat eggs slightly, gradually add sugar, continue beating until thick and ivory colored. Add butter that has been melted and cooled, add almond extract. Mix thoroughly. Fold in dry ingredients alternately with cream, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Turn into the prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Spread with hot topping. Broil, watching carefully until golden, 2 to 5 minutes. To prepare Almond Topping, put all ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil. |
