8 - HOUR LETTUCE SALAD | |
1 lg. head lettuce 1 pt. Hellmann's mayonnaise 1 box frozen green peas 1 lg. onion 1 can water chestnuts 3 tbsp. sugar Cut lettuce in half. Shred 1/2 in bottom of a large bowl. Slice chestnuts on top of lettuce. Slice onion on top of chestnuts. Spread uncooked peas on top of onion. Spread 1 pint mayonnaise on top of peas. Sprinkle sugar on top of peas and mayonnaise and then shred the other half of the lettuce head. Cover tightly and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight. Toss lightly before serving. Decorate with olives or pimentos. This adds color. |
