SWEET ONION CHEESE SPREAD 
3 large sweet onions, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 c. mayonnaise
1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
assorted crackers

In a large skillet, sauté onions and garlic in butter until tender. Remove from heat; stir in cheese, mayonnaise and hot pepper sauce. Transfer to an ungreased 1 1/2-quart baking dish.

Bake at 375°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve with crackers.

Yields about 5 cups.
