GOETTA 
2 qt. cold water
2 lb. ground beef
1 lb. ground pork
2 c. pinhead or steel cut oats
1 med. minced onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. sage
2 bay leaves

Use heavy pan! Break up meats with fork in water while beginning to boil. Add all other ingredients cook stirring often at least 3 hours in large heavy pan or pot. Goetta will be thick when done. Pour into loaf pans. Cool before refrigerating. After refrigerating to set, slice to fry for delicious breakfast or brunch for those liking German like tastes and textures.

Not quite a hit with the kid, but I liked it. Very old-school recipe. Very easy to make, very easy to keep. Going to make a bunch of this to take to hunt camp; perfect with hash browns & tabasco sauce, and a couple eggs!
