ITALIAN CREAM CAKE 
1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 sm. can coconut
1 c. chopped nuts
5 egg whites, beaten

Cream shortening, butter and sugar. Add egg yolks until creamy. Combine flour and soda to creamy mixture. With buttermilk, stir in the vanilla and add the coconut and nuts. Fold in egg whites with above mixture and pour into 3 pans. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

CREAM CHEESE ICING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. pecans

Cream cheese and butter. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in nuts.
