1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tbsp. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. + 2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
Sm. chocolate mint wafers

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.

Cream sugars and shortening, add egg and mix well. Stir in water and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to sugar mixture.

Shape cookies by enclosing each mint wafer in about 1 tablespoon dough. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until a light touch with finger leaves almost no imprint.
