1ST LAYER:

1 box white or yellow cake mix (not pudding mix)
1 stick butter, melted
1 egg

Mix these 3 ingredients together. Spread in bottom of a greased 9"x13" pan.

2ND LAYER:

Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the 1st layer. Also sprinkle 6 to 12 ounces of chocolate (semi-sweet) morsels over nuts.

3RD LAYER:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 box (10X) confectionery sugar
2 eggs

Mix these ingredients in a mixing bowl with electric mixer. Pour over chocolate morsels and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool in pan, then cut in squares. Can be left out at room temperature, kept in refrigerator or frozen for later use. You can also use chocolate cake mix for a brownie type bar or you may sprinkle with coconut or any other kind of solid filling. Nuts and chocolate morsels may also be eliminated.
