PEPPERMINT PATTIES 
1 box powdered sugar
3 tbsp. light corn syrup
3 tbsp. water
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
Red color (optional)

Combine powdered sugar, corn syrup and water in top of double boiler. Heat over simmering water (not boiling), stirring several times, until sugar dissolves and is smooth. Remove from heat but leave over hot water. Stir in extract. Color, if you wish. Drop candies, a teaspoon at a time, on a cookie sheet. Let stand until set.
